Art Therapy Berlin

Art Therapy in Berlin

I offer art therapy in Berlin and online. I would be delighted to share this special modality with you in service to your therapeutic goals.

Art therapy is a form of counselling that uses image making and other creative tools as a way to explore, express and transform. Art therapy goes beyond words and draws on your innate creativity to find surprising solutions and insights into your current challenges.

No art experience needed.

The process of making images, working with metaphor and the facilitated conversations around these creative expressions are what lead to insight, healing and change.

It is normal to feel both nervous to try it, and perhaps you feel a little intrigued too. For example, art making can bring up thoughts and memories of shame and self-judgements. It’s normal to have some trepidation around this. Therefore, I do my best to make you feel comfortable. I will explain how to approach the art making (mark-making) so you can ease into it gently.

In a typical art therapy session, you can expect to be listened to whole-heartedly. We usually start a session with a conversation that leads into some art making around the topic you wish to explore. After that, we have further gentle discussion and exploration to move you towards insight, relief and possibilities.

As a qualified art therapist I offer art therapy services for adults to help with:

  • increasing self-compassion and self-acceptance
  • make meaning out of life circumstances and experiences
  • finding clarity
  • moving through a life transition
  • increasing access to inner-wisdom
  • accessing untapped personal strengths and resources
  • increasing creative skills such as imagination, playfulness and flow states
  • decision making
  • relationship issues (including non-monogamous relationships)
  • befriending anxiety and difficult emotions
  • boundary work
  • grief and bereavement
  • integrating experiences from non-ordinary states of consciousness
  • art therapy for PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder)

Art Therapy Sessions are conducted online or in-person in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin.

Online Art Therapy Sessions are conducted via Zoom. You may like to have available some basic art materials such as paper, some colours and a private space in your own home. A tablet with a drawing app on it also works well.

I invite you to an online free 30 minute consultation where we can discuss what you would like to explore through art therapy and I can introduce you to this special healing modality.

“Rachel has been amazing to work with for art therapy. I always leave the session feeling amazed at how I feel. So grateful to Rachel for opening my mind to another way to be mindful and to tune into my inner self during the ups and downs of PMDD! Highly suggest trying a session!!” – Kelly

“Hi Rachel,  thank you for today’s session. Not only was it a very well run and thoughtful session but it couldn’t have come at a more appropriate time. It is very important to establish clear intentions for ourselves and you have helped me clarify mine, Thanks. Starting with the activity of letting go you helped me make room for what it is that I am moving towards. In helping me to clarify my short term intentions I now see how it will lead to the long term future I want. Again thank you. I felt supported, nurtured and myself, my thoughts and my creative endeavours respected.” – Donna

“Today’s online art session directed towards intentions, was beautiful and gentle. I let go of the things that no longer serve me, and felt that Rachel held the space very strongly, allowed plenty of time to create the artworks, and also allowed time to reflect and integrate. It was a very heartfelt and beautiful session.” Tamika
