Coaching Relationship and Agreement

  • You understand that coaching is a Professional-Client relationship designed to facilitate and develop your professional and personal goals including carrying out a strategy to achieve those goals.
  • You agree to commit and take responsibility for making the changes required, knowing this is the only way to get real results.
  • Coaching is not a substitute for psychotherapy.
  • Coaching is confidential within the legal limits of the law: any information you give to your coach will be respected and remain strictly confidential, excepting ethical obligations where yourself or others may be in physical danger.
  • Please let Rachel know if she can share that you are working together for the purposes of promoting your work, networking you with other professionals or job opportunities. No personal information discussed during sessions will be disclosed without permission.
  • Please contact Rachel Marsden if you ever have any concerns so that they may be resolved through open dialogue.

How to make the most of your coaching sessions

  • Come prepared with your agenda for what you’d like to discuss or set an intention for each session.
  • Take notes and/or request to have your session recorded.
  • Give open feedback about what resonates or what doesn’t fit for you, this allows for deeper coaching conversations. Coaches are perfectly imperfect as well.
  • Allocate time after each session to reflect and to begin to implement what was discussed.
  • Schedule time in your calendar to do your coaching related work.
  • Do your best to ensure you will not be disturbed by other people, pets, phone calls or notifications during your session.
  • Put your phone on silent.
  • If you ‘fail’ to live up to a commitment you made in a session, consider it as a learning experience to be tweaked (helpful thinking), rather than an embarrassing failure (unhelpful thinking). Come along again and we’ll tweak your strategies further for your future success. Sometimes these things take time, let’s enjoy the journey.
  • Sometimes goals and priorities change, particularly as you make new discoveries about yourself, hold them lightly.
  • Focus on progress, not perfection.
  • Remember to Enjoy the Process!
